Hallie travels to Canada with Rhoda Baughman of Agape Birth Services to attend the Birth and Beyond Conference. The highlight of the trip is once again hearing the distinguished Dr. James McKenna speak on bedsharing and safe infant sleep.

Awareness, Breath, and Birth: Prenatal Yoga and Integrative Childbirth
Birth Matters is very excited to be teaming up with Prana Yoga this spring to offer this very unique class series for pregnant mothers and their partners. We will provide information and techniques that can assist labor and birth whether birthing at a hospital, birth center, or home. The cost is $180, and the series is four consecutive Sundays in April. To register, please visit Prana Yoga.

Birth Matters exhibits and taught a Baby Wearing workshop at the 3rd Annual Birth to Baby Fair at the downtown Allen County Public Library. The Fair, organized and sponsored by the Doula Network of Fort Wayne, provides Fort Wayne area families with much-needed information on products and services available from local birth and baby professionals. It is great seeing everyone there, and we look forward to another year of great progress in informed birth in Fort Wayne.

Birth Matters co-sponsors a free presentation and demonstration by Toasty Baby at the Parkview Family YMCA. This event helps introduce many Fort Wayne area families to the benefits of cloth diapering.

Birth Matters participates as a vendor in the 2nd Annual Birth to Baby Fair at the downtown Allen County Library. The fair, sponsored by the Doula Network of Fort Wayne, builds upon the momentum from it's inaugural year, and is a great success. The featured speaker is world-renowned author, speaker, and doula, Penny Simkin.

Birth Matters exhibits at the 2008 WMEE Baby Fair at the Grand Wayne Center. This is our first experience with the prevailing birth and baby culture in Fort Wayne. Interesting.

Birth Matters sponsors a special sneak preview of THE BUSINESS OF BEING BORN, a documentary film directed by Abby Epstein and executive-produced by Ricki Lake. It is held at the downtown Allen County Public Library, and was huge success! Over 200 people come to watch the film and participate in the reception that followed.
